El Nino, Red Tide and the Phosphorus Cycle

El Nino
El Nino is the naturally occurring weather phenomenon that causes the wind patterns to shift in the pacific ocean. La Nina is the naturally occurring phenomenon that causes opposite weather patterns of El Nino. El Nino causes the ocean's temperature, air pressure and wind patterns to change. Below is a picture that shows El Nino on the top and La Nina on the bottom, and compares the ocean height levels.

Red Tide
Red Tide another naturally occurring phenomena that is caused by an algal bloom. The water appears to be red and can be quite dangerous for humans and other forms of animal life to be around. Red Tide can occur in many places around the world, however the focus for the article below is Texas. Below is one image of multiple instances of Red Tide.

The Global Phosphorus Cycle
The Global cycle of a certain contaminant is a very broad topic, so the topic I chose to look into more thoroughly included Phosphorus. Phosphorus travels throughout a complete cycle in many different forms and happens differently now than it has in the past. Below is an image of a more current phosphorus cycle.
